Professor Alberto Piergrossi

Chairman

Professor Piergrossi is the founding partner and the Chairman of Piergrossi Studio Legale. For over tirthy years he has successfully represented domestic as well as international clients in a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters including Commercial and Corporate Law, M&A, Capital Markets, Insolvency and Restructuring.

He is a renowned specialist in Intellectual Property and regularly assists clients in issues pertaining to patents, trademarks, trade names, domain names, copyright, industrial and fashion design, technology transfer, licensing, e-commerce, sponsorship, advertising and media law issues. Thanks to his extensive litigation, arbitration and mediation experience he has helped domestic as well as international clients to successfully protect and enforce their intellectual property rights, especially in the medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology industry sectors.

He is also an accomplished litigator, having represented clients in domestic and international litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings such as arbitration and mediation. In addition to serving as a counsel, he is often appointed as arbitrator, and also sole arbitrator, in both domestic and international proceedings.

In addition to his practice, he is a member of the Board of Directors of a number of companies, in particular in the pharmaceutical industry.

He was the Chairman of the law firm Piergrossi Bianchini Eversheds, which he established in 1975 and that later became the Italian member of the English alliance Eversheds International, which he left in 2009 to found Piergrossi Studio Legale.

He has been a professor of Civil Procedure Law at the University of Milan, School of Law, and a professor of Private and Procedural International Law at the University of Siena. In 1968 he was Teaching and Research Assistant at Stanford School of Law. He has published extensively in his areas of expertise and acted as a Court expert on Italian law and civil procedure before the High Court of Justice, London, UK. In 2005, he lectured at Harvard Law School.

He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Milan in 1963 and obtained an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School in 1967. He was admitted to the Italian Bar in 1966. He is admitted to plead before the Italian Supreme Court.

In the years 2004-2007, he was President of the Harvard Law School Association of Europe.
