Matteo Winkler

Partner

Matteo M. Winkler is a Partner at the Milan office of Piergrossi and specializes in litigation and arbitration. He advises on a wide range of civil and commercial transactions, including licensing deals and advertising and sponsorship agreements. Over the years, he has also acquired broad-based/ wide-ranging/ valuable/ substantial experience advising on entertainment law, press regulation and the advertising industry.

He has also gained extensive experience in national and international commercial arbitration, mediation and litigation, including insolvency procedures and corporate restructurings. He has represented clients in complex commercial negotiations and civil proceedings involving manufacturing companies and sophisticated engineering and industrial plants, especially with regard to product liability, industrial defects, breach of contract and tort liability. He has successfully defended clients in libel and defamation actions and complex disputes arising out of corruption charges.

Prior to joining Piergrossi in 2009, he worked at the Milan office of a pre-eminent English law firm.

He widely published in major Italian and U.S. law reviews and regularly lectures at Bocconi University, at Catholic University of Milan and at other academic institutions both in Italy and abroad, on various aspects of private and public international law, international civil procedure, international economic law and European law. He has also been a visiting scholar at Uppsala Law School, and a visiting researcher at Yale Law School.

He graduated from the Catholic University of Milan in 2001 and received a Ph.D. in International Economic Law from Bocconi Commercial University in 2007. In 2007, he obtained an LL.M. degree from Yale Law School. He was admitted to the Italian Bar in 2006.
